Dernières Mises à Jour
The Canadian GDP expanded by 0.1% from the previous month in September of 2025, reflecting a 0.1% increase in the third quarter, according to a flash estimate. The uptick would trim the 0.3% contraction in August, which was revised from the preliminary estimate of a stall, to mark the sharpest monthly contraction in the Canadian economy since December of 2022. The sharp decline reflected a more pronounced response to the trade war between Canada and the United States, and high interest rates by the BoC. Output from goods producing industries contracted by 0.6%, amid a 2.3% slump in the generation of utilities and a 0.7% drop in output of mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction, largely due to the drop in their global benchmark prices. In the meantime, output from services fell by 0.1% as a 1.7% decline in transportation and warehousing and a 1.2% contraction in wholesale trade offset the 0.9% gain for retail trade. From the previous year, the Canadian GDP expanded 0.7% in August.
