Dernières Mises à Jour
Retail sales in Canada are expected to have slumped by 0.8% from the previous month in July of 2025, according to a preliminary estimate. This would reflect the second sharpest drop in over one year, aligning with the volatile swings in retail as uncertain trade policy from the US impacted consumer patterns. In July, retail sales jumped by 1.5% to C$70.2 billion, the sharpest increase so far this year, and revised marginally lower than the preliminary estimate of a 1.6% jump. Core retail sales jumped by 1.9%, supported by higher turnover for beverage retailers (2.3%), supermarkets (1.8%), and clothing and accessories retailers (5.1%). In turn, turnover was also higher in gasoline stations (1.8%) despite the softer prices, as volumes soared by 2.7%.
