France Production Industrielle (Mensuel)

Industrial production in France fell 0.7% month-over-month in August 2025, after a revised 0.1% decline in July, missing forecasts of a 0.3% gain. Manufacturing output dropped 0.7% (vs. -0.5% in July), weighed down by transport equipment (-4.5% vs. -3.9%), as motor vehicles slipped (-0.9% vs. -1.9%) and other transport equipment fell sharply (-6.0% vs. -5.5%) due to a continued correction in aircraft production following a major spike in June. Coke and refined petroleum products also slumped (-4.7% vs. +4.2%), while food and beverages edged lower (-0.3% vs. -1.2%). Mining, energy, and water supply also declined 0.6% (vs. +1.6%). Meanwhile, construction output accelerated (+1.2% vs. +0.6%), supported by specialized works (+1.4%) and building construction (+3.7%), though civil engineering contracted (-1.3%). Over June–August, industrial activity rose 1.9% compared with the previous three months, while year-on-year, industrial output increased 1.3%.
