France Taux d'inflation

The annual inflation rate in France held steady at 0.8% in April 2025, unchanged for the third consecutive month, as expected, and remaining at its lowest level since February 2021. A sharper decline in energy costs (-7.9% vs. -6.6% in March) was offset by higher food inflation (1.2% vs. 0.6%), particularly in fresh products (4.0% vs. 3.8%). Meanwhile, inflation remained unchanged for services (2.3%) and tobacco (4.1%), while manufactured products continued to show deflation (-0.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5%—the largest increase since last August—exceeding forecasts of a 0.3% rise, driven by higher prices for services, especially transport, and food. Meanwhile, the EU-harmonized annual inflation rate eased to 0.8% in April, down from 0.9% in March. Over the month it rose by 0.6%—the highest since August 2024—up from a 0.2% increase in March.
