The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic maintained its benchmark interest rate at 9.00% during its April 2025 meeting, holding borrowing costs steady at their lowest level since January 2022. The decision was supported by stable inflation dynamics and strong economic activity. Inflation in the Kyrgyz Republic remains moderate, with year-to-date consumer prices up 1.96% and annual inflation at 6.9%, well within the National Bank's 5-7% target, as non-food and services price growth slows. Meanwhile, economic activity remains robust, with real GDP growing 13.1% in Q1 2025, driven by growth in services, construction, and industry, supported by robust consumer and investment demand. The board is continuously assessing internal and external economic conditions and may adjust monetary policy in response to any identified risks. The committee also kept its overnight credit and deposit rates at 11% and 4%, respectively.
