The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic held its benchmark interest rate at 9.00% during its May 2025 meeting, citing stable inflation and strong economic momentum. Inflation remains within the Bank’s medium-term target of 5–7%, with annual consumer prices up 7.7% and year-to-date inflation at 2.9%, driven by seasonal food price increases and administrative tariff adjustments. Meanwhile, despite global uncertainties, the Kyrgyz economy showed robust growth, with real GDP rising 11.7% in January–April 2025, underpinned by expansions in services, construction, and industry, alongside strong consumer and investment demand. The central bank noted stable interbank and foreign exchange markets, with resilient credit growth and a 16.1% increase in deposits. Policymakers reaffirmed their commitment to a balanced monetary policy approach and signaled readiness to act if inflation risks emerge. The next policy meeting is scheduled for July 28, 2025.
