Vietnam’s trade surplus increased to USD 2.6 billion in October 2025, up from USD 2.03 billion in the same month of 2024. Exports grew 17.5% yoy to USD 42.05 billion, while imports rose 16.8% to USD 39.45 billion. In the first ten months of 2025, Vietnam recorded a cumulative trade surplus of USD 19.56 billion, with exports and imports rising by 16.2% and 18.6%, respectively. During this period, shipments of processed industrial goods totaled USD 346.73 billion, accounting for 88.7% of total exports. The US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with turnover reaching USD 126.2 billion, while China continued to be the country’s top source of imports. For the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam has recorded a USD 111 billion trade surplus with the US. In July, the US and Vietnam signed a trade agreement under which the US will impose a 20% tariff on imports from Vietnam. The US last month said duties on certain products could be lifted as part of negotiations on a trade agreement.
