The seasonally adjusted FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index rose by 0.8 points to 86.7 in July 2025, reversing the previous month’s decline and continuing the upward trend that began in March. The modest increase reflected slight improvements in both current conditions (+0.5 to 83.4) and expectations (+0.7 to 89.4), mainly among lower-income households. Among the components, assessments of the economy (+0.7 to 94.3) and household finances (+0.3 to 72.8) advanced. However, future outlooks showed mixed results: while the indicator for durable goods purchases surged (+10.8 to 86.9), expectations for the economy (-2.4 to 100.5) and household finances (-6.2 to 82.4) deteriorated. According to FGV-IBRE economist Anna Carolina Gouveia, the data suggests a gradual recovery in confidence, supported by current improvements but still constrained by uncertainty regarding the future.
