Japan’s unemployment rate stood at 2.4% in January 2024, unchanged from the previous month which was also the consensus forecast. It was the lowest jobless rate since January last year as the number of employed persons increased by 250,000 to 67.14 million, while the unemployed declined by 10,000 to 1.63 million. Meanwhile, the jobs-to-applications ratio stood at 1.27 in January, indicating there were 127 job openings for every 100 job seekers.
