Turkey's trade deficit widened slightly to USD 6.5 billion in May 2025 from USD 6.47 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, preliminary estimates from the Trade Ministry showed. Still, this marked the smallest trade gap since October 2024, as exports increased by 2.7% year-on-year to an all-time high of USD 24.8 billion, while imports rose at a softer pace of 2.1% to USD 31.3 billion. Considering the first five months of the year, the country recorded a trade deficit of USD 41.4 billion, with exports increasing by 3.5% and imports growing by 5.7%.
