Expectations for the general economic situation over the next twelve months also improved notably, climbing to 81.5 from 78.2. However, sentiment remained mixed as households’ expectations for their financial situation over the next year weakened to 83.3 from 85.2, while intentions to spend on durable goods eased slightly to 101.9 from 102.6, signaling continued caution in purchasing plans. Overall, the index remained well below the 100 threshold, indicating that consumer confidence is still in pessimistic territory despite the marginal improvement.
